urology Prostate Surgeries in COVID Times

Date :25-Sep-2020

Prostate patients have always been a priority, but ever since we COVID-19 has hit us, the medical priorities are changing rapidly. Many urologists have been forced to bring down their clinical activity.

The biggest challenge has been to deal with treatments apart from COVID-19, but gradually it is being understood by all that medical attention cannot be single-patient based. Urologists too have been managing many non-oncology patients who are suffering from life-threatening conditions.

The situation has been quite similar everywhere, within the initial months of the corona outbreak, like all other hospitals and clinics, we also progressively reduced our operating capacity and treated only oncological emergencies/priorities. Corona has certainly altered our everyday activity drastically. Striking a balance between priority COVID-19 patients and the patients who need treatment for other conditions, has been the biggest challenge for doctors.

But fortunately, private hospitals have started with elective procedures as the rate of recovery of COVID-19 patients is increasing steadily. With an end to this pandemic, no where in near sight patients are also adjusting to the fact that corona is here to stay, and delaying the advised surgery may not be a wise idea.

Like always, we provide comprehensive and compassionate urology care. The cutting edge technology that we use, makes us the first choice for all those who come to seek our help. We are well-aware of our obligations are all the protocols are being followed strictly at our hospital. Every patient who comes to us, is carefully examined, it is also checked if he is coming from a hotspot.

Sanitisation rules are strict and the entire staff undergoes regular checks and investigations. Neither the staff nor any patient is allowed in the premises without a proper mask and everyone maintains the required distance. More stress is also being laid on the air filtration and cleanliness system.

Our primary focus presently is on crucial surgeries and we are positive about the opening of OPDs and elective prostate surgeries. The situation may look fluid sometimes, but we are trying everything in our capacity to help and heal all our patients.
