What is Prostate cancer?

The cancer which is seen in the prostate gland is known as prostate cancer. Prostate gland is a small part of man’s reproductive system that is seen in front of rectum and just below the bladder. Most of the prostate cancer can grow very fast and some are very slow. It can spread into other parts of body from prostate gland such as bones and lymphs. Prostate cancer is commonly found in men who is older than 40.

What are the symptoms of prostate cancer?

Prostate cancer may not cause any symptoms so some times it referred to as ‘silent cancer’. The symptoms of prostate cancer is same as symptoms of prostate disease, but prostate disease does not leads to prostate cancer. The following symptoms may cause prostate problems.

  • Frequently urination
  • Painful urination
  • Straining when urinating
  • Slow urinary stream
  • Presence of blood in urine semen
  • Bone pain
  • Painful ejaculation

What are the available treatments for prostate cancer?

Treatments for prostate cancer is based on the overall health of the patient. Treatments of prostate cancer at earlier stage is very simple and that include:

  • Medicine to reduce the testosterone level (Hormone therapy)
  • Radiation therapy
  • Radical prostatectomy

  • Nerve-Sparing Robotic Radical Prostatectomy
  • Nerve-Sparing Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy
  • Perineal Prostatectomy
